What is a Seiko Prospex Watch?
The Prospex range of Seiko diver's watches are rugged, stylish and classic looking diver's watches that are water resistant to a minimum of 200 meters. They are also ISO-6425 certified. The word Prospex is simply abbreviated from the words 'Professional Specifications'.
These are made and marketed not only towards Scuba Divers, but to anyone who loves water activities.
What does being ISO 6425 Certified mean?
Some watches are called a divers watch by their manufacturer but for many, this is only about the look of the watch, rather than whether or not it is actually suitable for diving. Only watches that are ISO 6425 certified can be a true Divers Watch.
To gain ISO 6425 certification, watches must meet certain safety standards that apply to all Diving watches. Firstly, it must be water resistant to 200 meters. This means it must be able to take atmospheric pressure to this depth, which makes it suitable for Scuba diving.
The Bevel will be unidirectional, meaning it can only turn in one way. It is a precise measure of minutes elapsed, and there is an audible click as it's moved. The bevel also becomes more difficult to turn when underwater so that it doesn't move accidentally if knocked while diving.

Personalize your Seiko - How to Change the Strap Video
Watches in the Seiko Prospex range will come with either an accordion style rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The rubber is ribbed so it can expand over a wet suit or dry suit.
It's relatively easy to personalize the look of a watch by swapping a band out with another style.
You can completely change the look with a Nato, stainless steel, leather, or any other style of band.
The Seiko SRPC44 Turtle, Black, and Gold to me is absolutely stunning. Sure I am guilty of popping into a “Bricks and Mortar” real shop to check the full Seiko range, but for my own convenience and price, I purchased mine online. Ended up a hell of a lot cheaper too.
They had a demo model only in my local shop in Singapore and told me it could take 3 to 4 weeks to get one into stock.
I saved the money and purchased online. Took only 4 days from the US to get to me.
It has a very comfortable band as well. Nicely done Seiko. You make the best value watches EVER!
